Apple Readies MacBook Pro Refresh

Probably not wanting to take away anything from the MacBook Air debut at MacWorld, Apple has decided to unleash the long overdue refresh of the MacBook Pro line in the next few weeks. The new Pros will most likely get the new Penryn-based Core 2 Duo mobile process from Intel due to their lower power requirements and 6MB Level 2 cache, and the new multi-touch trackpad.

The Penryn processors will most like come in the 2.5GHz to 2.6GHz flavors, which reportedly only requires 1.15V as opposed to the 1.225V of the current MacBook Pros. However, the question many music professional’s minds is the feasibility of multi-processor MacBooks. Power and heat are usually the hurdles that most engineers cite when a discussion of this nature emerges, but with lower power constraints, and the Penryn’s ultra-small size, could a multi-processor MacBook become a reality in the near future?

We hope so…
