Universal Pens Content Agreement With Imeem

Universal Music Group has agreed to provide music and video footage to Imeem, a popular social networking site. Universal now joins rival music groups Warner, EMI and Sony BMG who already penned similar agreements. Imeem offers users streamed audio and video content free-of-charge, and claims to have more than 19 million users.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but an advance with an ad revenue share is typical. Imeem’s deal with UMG now allows their users to access content from the world’s biggest music group, whose artists include Fall Out Boy, 50 Cent, Black Eyed Peas, Kanye West, Amy Winehouse, The Pussycat Dolls, Gwen Stefani, The Killers, Snow Patrol, Maroon 5 and other quality talent.
