Sub Pop Launches Download Store
Sub Pop has opened up a Mom ‘n’ Pop online record store. The savvy indie label has over 200 full-length albums for sale as DRM-Free, 192kbps MP3s. They are not offering individual song downloads, a bummer. Each album costs $9.90 and features a diverse brew of bands including Nirvana, the Hives, Hot Hot Heat, Sunny Day Real Estate, and many more.
The label claims that it will upgrade the store’s features in the near future including bumping up the bit rate, but didn’t give a specific timeline. The store is kinda, well, bush-league, but the idea of a “corner download store” does have its appeal…
