Brainworx Readies bx_solo & bx_control Mid/Side Plug-Ins

Brainworx is readying two new Mid/Side radio and television plug-ins, bx_solo and bx_control, for ProTools. Mid/Side, or M/S is a format used in FM radio and television production to produce a wide stereo image, but with a concrete center. The format, also called Mono-Stereo in some circles, is based on this formula:
LEFT = (left + right) / RIGHT = (left – right)
It’s a fascinating way of creating a stereo image and if you’d like to explore this topic more a good resource is Bob Katz’s “Mastering Audio the Art and the Science.” But we digress…

bx_solo will be released in the RTAS and VST plug-in formats, and was designed to familiarize users with M/S separation with Solo Buttons for M, S, L & R plus stepped stereo width.

bx_control utilizes a M/S matrix for incorporating other plug-ins and incliudes Mono Maker (up to 26kHz) and M/S Stereo Width control, plus Solo Buttons for L, R, M & S. bx_control will be released in the for ProTools and VST formats.

Brainworx’s bx_solo will be free and bx_control will cost you an arm and a leg. Actually, official pricing has not been released on bx_control, so we have no idea what it will set you back. More information on bx_solo and bx_control.
