WMG & AnywhereCD Dismiss Lawsuits Ending Dispute

Warner Music Group (WMG) and AnywhereCD have dismissed their respective lawsuits against each other and have decided to conclude their business arrangement earlier than contracted. Under the new arrangement, WMG will allow AnywhereCD to continue sell its music via the service until Sept. 30.

AnywhereCD, founded by Michael Robertson of MP3.com fame, offers customers the option to buy a physical CD which includes Digital Rights Management free MP3 files or pay less for just the MP3 files. WMG didn’t care for the non-DRM option and demanded AnywhereCD remove its content from the service. AnywhereCD only sells full albums, not individual singles. AnywhereCD responded by suing WMG for breach of contract and business defamation.
