Ian Curtis Biopic – Control – Acquired By Weinsteins
The rights to the biopic of Ian Curtis, eclectic frontman of Joy Division, has been acquired by the Weinstein Company. “Control” focuses on Curtis’ last years leading up to his suicide in 1980, the struggle between his love for his wife and his girlfriend, his bouts with epilepsy and performances with Joy Division.
Photographer and musicvideo director Anton Corbijn made his feature directorial debut with “Control,” written by Matt Greenhalgh and starring Sam Riley, Samantha Morton and Alexandra Maria Lara. Corbijn, Orian Williams and Todd Eckert produced.
No release date has been announced.
