FBT Announces Modus Sound System

FBT, an Italian manufacturer, has announced a line-array sound system dubbed Modus. The Modus family consists of two line-array enclosures, the Modus 15 (15-degree vertical coverage) and the Modus 40 (40-degree vertical coverage) and a band pass subwoofer, the Modus Sub.

The concept behind the Modus 15 and 40 systems is the grouping of 8×8-inch, custom-designed B&C woofers and 8 x1.7-inch custom-designed B&C HF drivers, all loaded into single enclosures. This design concept omits disruptions in the upper-mid frequencies, reportedly allowing for improved evenness and coherence of the wave front through the waveguide, modeling a cylindrical wave that’s totally free of multiple paths. The Modus Sub with 2×15-inch LF woofers, offers a stated frequency response to 38 Hz., 141 dB max SPL and short-term power handling of 3,200w @ 4 ohms.

The subwoofer can be suspended or stacked, and provides a system for use where extreme low-frequency sound is required. Although the maximum performance is obtained when suspending the array modules, it is also possible to ground-stack the Modus 15 and 40 with an optional stand base, or to overlap one Modus 15 to the subwoofer.

The FBT Modus will be available this Summer, no pricing has been announced. More information on the FBT Modus.
