Universal To Distribute Thievery Corp’s ESL
Fontana, Universal Music’s Independent Distribution division has signed the Thievery Corporation’s ESL Music to an exclusive U.S. distribution agreement. ESL releases were previously distributed via Caroline.
Founded by the Thievery Corporation’s Rob Garza and Eric Hilton, the label is host to a number of electronic and instrumental artists, including Ursula 1000, Chris Joss and the Karminsky Experience, among others. ESL and Fontana are in the process of lining up upcoming releases. Thievery Corporation’s top-selling album in the U.S. is 2000’s “Mirror Conspiracy,” which has sold 224,000 units to date, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
