Shure Raids Counterfeiters
Shure recently assisted in raids in Thailand aimed at preventing importation and distribution of counterfeit Shure products in Asia and the rest of the world. The most recent operation, conducted in cooperation with Indian authorities, has resulted in the arrest of a trader in New Dehli.
With the support of a local Shure distributor, Sun Infonet Pvt Ltd., the action taken by Shure investigators and Indian authorities earlier this month has resulted in an arrest and the seizure of a large quantity of counterfeit products. In addition to the anti-counterfeiting efforts in Asia, Shure also has successfully conducted operations to stem intellectual property breaches in Europe, South America, the Middle East, Africa and the United States.
The Future: Counterfeiting is a major problem in Asia that’s only going to get worse as more and more manufacturing moves to the region. China’s jurassic copyright laws will continue to pose a problem for companies in the music sector as the pirates’ sophistication grows.
