Cowon Drops D2 Audio/Video Portable

After causing a stir at CES, Cowon has finally released their anticipated D2 digital audio/video player. The D2 is a quality device with a 2.5-inch screen and housed in a robust black body with a brushed-metal accent. The D2 will ship with 2GB or 4GB of built-in flash memory, and has an SD card expansion slot for adding extra storage, as well as a MMC Card Slot. It has a bright 16 million color TFT-LCD (QVGA 320×240) touch-screen that can be used with your finger or the included stylus, and offers a claimed 30-hour rated battery life.

The D2 supports a boatload of audio codecs, including MP3, Ogg, WAV, FLAC, and WMA (including subscription tracks). It supports photo and video playback, WMV and MPEG-4 natively, and Cowon includes a transcoding app for converting DivX and other formats, as well as a TV out. There’s also voice and line-in recording, as well as an FM tuner with autoscan and preset slots.

The D2 can also view TXT documents, up to 2GB, and sports USB 2.0 connectivity. The device fits in your palm 3.07 X 2.18 X 0.65 inches and weighs in at 3.2 ounces.
