2006 Oscar Sound Winners Announced

The 2006 Oscars in the categories of Sound Editing and Sound Mixing were announced during the 79th Academy Awards presentation in Hollywood. Alan Robert Murray and Bub Asman were recognized for Sound Editing for Flags Of Our Fathers. This was the sixth Academy Award nomination for Murray, including a nomination this year for Sound Editing for Letters From Iwo Jima. It was Asman’s third Sound Editing nomination.

Re-recording mixers Michael Minkler and Bob Beemer won the Academy Award for Best Sound Mixing for Dreamgirls, sharing the award with production mixer Willie D. Burton. This is Minkler’s third Oscar; he previously won for Chicago and Black Hawk Down. Beemer has three previous Academy Awards, for Ray, Gladiator and Speed. Burton previously won for Bird.
