Ian Rogers Tapped To Head Yahoo! Music

Ian Rogers has been named GM of Yahoo! Music. He replaces both David Goldberg and Robert Roback who recently announced their resignations. Rogers was most recently VP of product development for Yahoo Music and will report to Vince Broady who heads entertainment for the company.

Like most download and subscription services other than iTunes and eMusic, Yahoo has struggled to gain consumer traction mostly because of their cookie-cutter approach to the field instead of being innovators. Will Rogers be able to instil the necessary inventiveness and energy into the stale Yahoo! Music brand? Without completely rethinking online music, it does not look good.
