Viacom Enters Licensing Deal With Joost

Viacom has announced a licensing deal with Joost, a new Internet service that specializes in commercial video content. The announcement comes just two weeks after the concern ordered Google to pull its content off of YouTube.

The deal, which comes right on the heels of the recent collapse of similar talks between Viacom and YouTube, involves licensing content from MTV, Paramount studios, Comedy Central and Spike. Financial details were not disclosed, but should leak by the end of the week. Most likely, Viacom will receive two-thirds or more of the advertising revenue, a stake in Joost, plus other goodies.
