Digital Chocolate & EMI Music Canada Partner To Sell Mobile Game, Music And Break Artists

Digital Chocolate, Inc., a leading publisher of high-quality, original software for mobile phones, and EMI Music Canada are joining forces to deliver an innovative mobile entertainment experience that merges mobile music and gaming. The first joint offering – a mobile game called Club k-os – will incorporate EMI Music Canada recording artist k-os’s likeness and his hit single “Sunday Morning,” from his new album “Atlantis-Hymns for Disco” into a custom version of Digital Chocolate’s award-winning Nightclub Empire mobile game.

In Club k-os, music lovers and mobile gamers alike are challenged to build and run the hottest underground nightclubs to build their wealth and reputation by packing the house night after night! Players manage every aspect of the club including advertising, hiring bouncers and go-go dancers, upgrading lighting kits and sound systems, and choosing from among eight DJs, including k-os himself!

Club k-os and EMI Music Canada’s unique, tightly integrated partnership cross-sells content between mobile music and game consumers. There are a series of physical and digital marketing tie-ins that will allow consumers to purchase the game directly via short code. Digital Chocolate’s unique “Get More Games” feature, built into Club k-os, provides fans a direct link to their carrier’s music deck to download k-os specific ringtones. Additionally, participating Operators will feature fully integrated websites that allow consumers to download the exclusive Club k-os game, ringtones, wallpaper and more, all from the same destination. Digital Chocolate and EMI Music Canada believe that with appropriately tailored, integrated music and game offerings, carriers can better bridge the gap between their music and games decks.

“Digital Chocolate is an ideal partner for us to further break a hot artist like k-os internationally,” said Sean Hutchison of EMI Music Canada. “We looked for a partner who could engage k-os fans with a compelling, tailored game that would add value to his image. Digital Chocolate’s relationships with top Operators worldwide allow us to get this game and music into the hands of consumers globally.”

“While mobile gamers and music lovers often share common lifestyle interests, there have been very few mobile entertainment experiences that merge today’s hottest musical artists with the most popular mobile games,” said Trip Hawkins, founder and CEO of Digital Chocolate. “By partnering with EMI Music Canada and leveraging our own catalog of quality, original mobile content, we are able to deliver an innovative mobile experience that not only entertains, but also will help carriers increase their cross-selling capabilities.”

Club k-os is live on top carriers in Canada and will be available through U.S. carriers by early 2007.
