Orange Rolls Out SMS Jukebox In France
Orange France is rolling out a SMS Jukebox function to its subscribers in Paris this month. The service, provided by technology concern YCD, lets customers in bars, restaurants or other leisure establishments choose and play songs by sending a text message to the jukebox.
All the patron needs to do is send an SMS on his mobile phone with the selected song number, and it will be played at the next available opportunity.
The technology was tested in Cannes during the most recent film festival and was deemed a success. The next phase will be conducted as a pilot in 20 locations in Paris. If it’s well received, Orange and YCD will rollout the service to thousands of locations throughout France.
