National Geographic Launches World Music Store

National Geographic has developed a digital world music store, dubbed National Geographic World Music. The online destination is a partnership with several companies, including Global Rhythm, Link TV, Calabash Music, and Afropop Worldwide. Calabash has a pecial catalog of National Geographic songs from around the world which are offered as non-DRM MP3s at 99-cents per download.

Song genres range from Aboriginal Australian to Zydeco, and Link TV is supplying its collection of world music videos, a real benefit to fans who never get to view these items on conventional music video channels. The site also contains many dynamic stories about the artists and geographical locations they come from. The editorial content is supplied by Afropop Worldwide and Global Rhythm.
